Class 2 Driver. East Sussex. £16500 -£17500 + overtime & benefits

Our Client based in East Sussex is a well established local supplier and manufacturer of packaging materials and display equipment.
They are looking for a flexible Class 2 driver.
The manufacturing of corrugated cases is a busy, time critical process, along side the distribution of packaging supplies. As a Driver you will be required to ensure all goods are delivered in good timely order, customer focus is of the utmost importance. The ideal candidate will have a C licence, Tachograph experience and hold a digital card, knowledge of the South East and be 25 or over in accordance with our clients insurance policy.
This position requires a certain amount of manual handling you will need to be fit and have good health & safety awareness.
Objective:
To ensure all packaging goods are delivered in a professional, timely manor ensuring an excellent customer service provided.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Operate up to 18t vehicles for customer deliveries to designated areas
· Ensure correct items are delivered relating to delivery notes
· Notify relevant department of any deliveries not met
· Drive with due care and attention at all times
· Assist with unloading and loading of vehicles when necessary
· Ensure vehicles are clean, safe and in orderly condition
· Operate vehicle under conditions of operators licence
· Ensure vehicles are checked on a daily basis before use
· Ensure you are courteous to customers and other road users at all times
· Ensure Challenge Packaging standards, company policies adhered to at all times
Health & Safety
· Adhere to all health & safety regulations and company policy at all times
· Report any accidents or issues regarding health & safety appropriately
· Ensure all Risk Assessments & safe systems at work read, understood, signed and followed.
· Observe and follow all manual handling practices at all times
Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned and when necessary. You may be required to cover the warehouse (this would be to provide sick or holiday cover).
Person Specification
Essential Skills:
· A basic level of functional skills, Clean C licence class 2, 18t Digital Tachograph
· A clear understanding of the relevant driving laws and working time directives.
· Must have a good sound knowledge of health & safety issues.
· Have at least 1 years driving experience in a class 2 vehicle (newly appointed Class 2 licence holders will be considered if they possess the right attitude)
· Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally
· Demonstrate punctuality & self discipline
· Demonstrate a good geographical knowledge of the area
· Enthusiastic and flexible to working hours & travelling
· Display honesty, integrity, awareness of confidentiality & ethical issues.
· Have good road use and show courtesy to other road users
· Flexible attitude and good team player.
· Demonstrate ability to cope with changing situations and pressure of re-arranging priorities.
· Must demonstrate a good understanding of customer service and attention to detail/quality issues
Desirable
· An understanding of manufacturing industry
· Understand importance of information technology
· (MIS Training provided)
Package
· Location: East Sussex TN22
· Hours: 7am – 4.30pm (some flexibility required )
· Salary: £8 - £8.50 per hour depending on experience
· Holiday: 28 days (includes bank holidays) 5 days to be taken at Christmas due to company shut down.
· Benefits: Private Health care & pension contribution (after qualifying period)
